You probably know what you should be eating, or you have an ideal vision of what your routine should look like. Nutrition information can be down right overwhelming for most of us, and finding that starting point can be the hardest part. Along with learning "what" to eat, we often forget the "how" - "how do I get more protein in my lunches?" "I hear that tofu is good for me, but how to I make it taste good?!" These are the skills that many of us are missing. And for my neurodiverse clients (from your ND dietitian), I know there are extra challenges we face when trying to build these new routines.

Have you ever thought about the connection between your food and mood? I help people struggling with their mental health to feel better with nutrition! The brain has very unique nutrient needs and those struggling in their mental health can have even higher needs. What you eat plays a huge role in managing mood and is often overlooked. Many times mental health challenges come with a change in eating patterns like poor appetite, skipping meals, and a dominant desire for sweet foods.

You know that food and nutrition are important to you and your family. But you’re frustrated with feeding your family: finding the time and energy to meal plan and then struggling with dinner-time bribes and battles. Or maybe you’re interested in Baby-led Weaning but have no idea how to actually do it. You are not alone, and you’re in the right place!

During my youth, you may have found me either at the ice rink figure skating, or in the forest, hunting for fairies. At the age of 19, Disney on Ice offered myself a role in their “Dare to Dream” production. This was a dream come true, as my life as a fairy was coming true! It was after a year of travelling with Disney, that I decided to pursue my post secondary education. I received a diploma for “Professional Sports Performance” and during this time I noticed my health was starting to decline. I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. I started to experiment with healthier foods, natural supplements, as well as specific exercise,

How can an Alberta Nutritionist help me?
Dietitians and Nutritionists in Alberta provide advice on good eating habits. They help you with your diet and how it affects your health. They assess nutrition needs and food patterns, plan a diet that's appropriate for your physical and dietary needs, and provide nutrition counseling, such as advice on dietary changes and menu plans. They advise on special diets for medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, food allergies, and obesity.

The word dietitian has a variant spelling 'dietician' (e.g. find an Alberta dietician). Both spellings are correct.
About Alberta Registered Dietitians
Registered Dietitians or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in Alberta complete a bachelor's degree at a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as a period of supervised practice and an exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. While certification is not required in all states for nutritional counseling or nutrition therapy, only individuals certified by their respective states may use the Certified Dietitian or Certified Nutritionist titles.

How to use my insurance?
Some Nutritionists and Alberta dietary professionals accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the Nutritionist or Dietitian.
