With 40 years clinical experience, the spectrum of my professional nutrition services range from basic nutrition counseling/education for those who simply want to improve their diet & lifestyle, on up to therapeutic nutritional support for specific health conditions - everything from indigestion to cancer (see list of specialties below). A functional medicine nutrition approach seeks to identify & resolve the root cause. Professional nutrition services determine your personal health profile. One size does not fit all. Anyone can sell you vitamins, few can tell you precisely which nutrients best meet your actual, individual need.

Through the trust and openness of my clients and continued training, I’ve also had the opportunity to deepen my work in areas of endometriosis, PCOS, autoimmune conditions (including RA, scleroderma, and MCTD), MCAS, POTS, and SIBO.
Whether you've been caught in the endless scroll of "eat this, not that" articles or constantly feel like you're falling short with your eating habits, my job is to help you cut through the noise and break things down into manageable, realistic steps. Together, we will work toward a way of eating that truly supports you without sacrificing your relationships, hobbies, or overall joy in life. My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in curiosity and compassion. Your habits around food are unique to your experiences and upbringing. The healing goes far beyond just counting calories and hitting goal weights.

Instead of focusing on the perfectly “right” way to eat, I help my clients find the right ways to eat for them, while also helping to reverse prediabetes, improve fertility or symptoms with PCOS, and create a more resilient immune and hormonal balance with autoimmune conditions such as Hashimoto’s disease.
I call blood sugar health the "Gateway Condition" because when blood sugars are optimized people also feel more energetic, sleep better, have better mood stability and reduced food cravings. There is also a reduced of risk of chronic diseases. CGMs (continuous glucose monitors) are one of the best tools to inform and personalize diets for many health goals.

I'm here, I'm queer, and I am so excited to support my clients on their journey towards radical body liberation from the overwhelming oppressions of current societal and cultural norms. I believe that we all have rebellion in our roots, and by harnessing that power we can challenge the thoughts and belief systems that no longer serve us and come back to our authentic selves.

"I know what I should be doing... I just don't do it". If you've ever said that about your weight loss, sports nutrition or wellness goals, then you're just like the clients I work with everyday. They have great intentions to lose weight, get fit, and improve their health, but struggle to find the time, energy and motivation to make it a priority. They've tried strict diets, joined numerous exercise programs, and set unrealistic goals - only to experience frustration and failure.

Do you wish that eating could be simple again, without all the guilt, shame, or feeling out of control around food? Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I already messed up today so I might as well eat the rest and start fresh tomorrow"? Do you feel confused about how to listen to and nourish your body despite perhaps knowing a lot about nutrition? If so, you're not alone - many of my clients come to me feeling exhausted and frustrated by trying to follow food rules or diet plans that end up making them feel crazy around food. They care a lot about their health but they wonder if there is another way.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Nutritionists and Dietitians
What is Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)?
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a condition characterized by hormonal imbalance, leading to symptoms such as irregular or absent periods, weight gain, excess hair growth, infertility, and acne. The exact causes of PCOS are not well understood, but it is believed to result from a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors, including stress and nutrition.

How is PCOS treated?
PCOS is typically treated with a combination of medication and lifestyle changes. Many individuals with PCOS are prescribed birth control medication to help regulate the abnormal hormone levels associated with the condition. With regard to lifestyle modifications, healthcare professionals often recommend maintaining a balanced, healthy diet and engaging in regular physical activity. This is particularly important for women diagnosed with obesity or diabetes, as weight loss and improved insulin regulation can significantly alleviate PCOS symptoms.

What diet is best for people with PCOS?
In general, experts recommend a plant-based diet high in fiber, healthy fats, and lean protein as the best nutritional approach to managing PCOS. Because women diagnosed with PCOS are at a higher risk of specific conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and heart problems, a diet that helps prevent such conditions can be highly effective. The "Mediterranean diet," characterized by the consumption of lots of healthy fats, vegetables, beans, and whole grains is one common diet with evidence supporting its efficacy in preventing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. In addition, other lifestyle modifications that support weight management and healthy insulin levels—such as exercise, smoking cessation, and alcohol consumption reduction—are often also incorporated into PCOS treatment.

What foods should people with PCOS avoid?
Due to the high blood sugar levels and insulin resistance characteristic of PCOS, experts typically advise individuals with PCOS to avoid foods that cause large blood sugar spikes, such as sugary snacks and refined carbs like white bread. Instead, they recommend consuming foods rich in healthy fats, whole grains, and fiber, which can help stabilize blood sugar levels. Individuals with PCOS may also find that certain foods trigger their symptoms. Therefore, identifying and avoiding these specific foods can be important for reducing symptom severity on an individual level.
