All great Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners in history are expertise in using acupuncture and medicinal herbs together for greater effectiveness. While acupuncture has gained popularity in America, many people do not know each component has its own strength. Some conditions cannot be treated effectively without the use of herbs. When herbal treatment is used alone, it's also more affordable. With the commitment to provide effective, comprehensive and affordable treatment, I spent years in the study of medicinal herbs in addition to acupuncture. I am licensed in both acupuncture and herbology.

My patients benefit from the synergy of a multifaceted approach that includes several styles of Acupuncture (applied with a very gentle touch!), Chinese Herbal Medicine, Matrix Energetics (a quantum transformational experience), Bach Flower Essence Therapy (homeopathic remedies that shift negative emotions), , plus lots of one-on-one attention, TLC and laughter, provided in a clean and peaceful environment. To empower patients, self-treatment strategies are often recommended.

Whenever possible, I believe in choosing a natural path to health and I emphasize the same for my patients. I find that acupuncture and homeopathy are powerful modalities in restoring the physiological and energetic balance in the body. I view illness and pain as an injury to one's vital force (Qi, life energy). Rather than reactively attack the disease or injury, my approach to acupuncture is to restore health and balance in the vital force, which in turn allows the body to heal itself.

As experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, we concentrate on what our patient's goal of the visit and achieve it from either maximizing the symptom relief or improving the current condition. In addition to traditional Chinese medicine, we also value the importance of clinical diagnosis from western medicine. The integrative traditional Chinese and western medicine has become one of the most effective methods on our patients.

As an acupuncturist I have learned to believe in the old saying that "the only time the body and mind are separate is in a dictionary". By understanding this mind body connection I strive to not only treat each person as a unique individual but also encourage each person to take an active role in their health needs.

Acupuncture Physical Therapy is a unique approach to treating pain, including neck and back injuries, sports injuries and stress-related diseases. Merging traditional Oriental Acupuncture practice with evidenced-based, modern medicine technique of dry trigger point needling, Acupuncture Physical Therapy treatments can be a viable means of healing, pain management and prevention. Combining acupuncture theory with the physical therapy approach of releasing myofascial trigger points (sometimes felt as "knots") and stress holding patterns allows Acupuncture Physical Therapy to address problems that are not responsive to other more common interventions such as medications, chiropractic or traditional physical therapy.

Acupuncture in Pennsylvania - is it right for me?
Acupuncture is based on the concepts of oriental medicine or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. Pennsylvania acupuncturists are health care professionals who evaluate and treat the many conditions, aches and pains that respond to acupuncture.

Acupuncturists insert very fine acupuncture needles into the body. The purpose of the needles is to stimulate acupuncture points or meridians. The needles do not inject any substance into your body and are so fine as to be virtually impossible to feel. In some cases, acupuncture may be accompanied by electrical stimulation or the burning of moxa, a form of heat therapy. Or use acupressure, where physical pressure is applied by hand or elbow to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.

'Accupuncture' and 'Accupuncturist' are common mis-spellings.

Credentials for Pennsylvania licensed acupuncturists?
A licensed acupuncturist in Pennsylvania needs a minimum of two years college education and must complete three years of professional training and pass the State's approved licensing examination. The three year program includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Most States' professional training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
