Many patients are surprised (and some are relieved!) to know that I specialize in acupuncture without needles. Instead of needles, I use AcuLaser (laser light) to stimulate acupuncture points. Patients find these treatments to be relaxing and effective. Meanwhile, a growing body of clinical and scientific evidence is validating this modern modality when used in the context of the acupuncture meridian system, a framework developed thousands of years ago.

"Every human being is the author of his or her own health or disease" this quote from the great Buddha is the underlying principle of my practice. I believe that each choice we make is part of a complex framework and there is no choice too small or insignificant to create a change. Every person I have had the honor to treat in my practice has made a decision to make change in their lives.

I practice Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology not only to treat a variety of physical symptoms but also as a preventative to many common conditions and ailments. I bring to my practice extensive knowledge of the body gained from my training as a physician and Ob/Gyn in China, and through my 18 years as an practicing acupuncturist. At our clinic we work holistically in both our diagnosis (TCM) and treatment. We believe that pain and disease both manifest from imbalances in Qi, which is the fundamental energy flowing through us. An imbalance in Qi can cause many problems throughout the body.

Welcome! Some people call me the Sleep Guy, with good reason. As an Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Hypnotherapist for 29 years, I've made it my mission to help people regain a portion of their peak life and healthy sleep. That often entails addressing anxiety, pain or stress or unwanted cravings that may get in the way. Some patients use my book, Rewired for Sleep: the 28-Day Insomnia Program as a template for healing. The feedback has been generous. I accept most insurance, and that helps my patients, as do consultations, time permitting. Located Mid-town NYC

Acupuncture in New York County - is it right for me?
Acupuncture is based on the concepts of oriental medicine or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. New York County acupuncturists are health care professionals who evaluate and treat the many conditions, aches and pains that respond to acupuncture.

Acupuncturists insert very fine acupuncture needles into the body. The purpose of the needles is to stimulate acupuncture points or meridians. The needles do not inject any substance into your body and are so fine as to be virtually impossible to feel. In some cases, acupuncture may be accompanied by electrical stimulation or the burning of moxa, a form of heat therapy. Or use acupressure, where physical pressure is applied by hand or elbow to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.

'Accupuncture' and 'Accupuncturist' are common mis-spellings.

Credentials for New York County licensed acupuncturists?
A licensed acupuncturist in New York County needs a minimum of two years college education and must complete three years of professional training and pass the State's approved licensing examination. The three year program includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Most States' professional training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
