Many naturopaths do offer nutrition counseling. In fact, those credentialed as naturopathic doctors (NDs) receive specialized training in nutrition as part of their 4-year training curriculum in naturopathic medicine. Traditional naturopaths with less formal training may vary substantially in their knowledge of nutrition. However, in general, naturopathy encourages the use of lifestyle interventions, such as diet, as an alternative to medication intervention, thus rendering many naturopaths particularly interested in the topic of nutrition.
