We have three registered and licensed dietitians offering non-diet and weight-inclusive nutrition counseling for those who are seeking freedom from eating disorders and/or diet culture. We also offer non-diet personal training with one of our dietitians who is a certified personal trainer, and trauma-informed yoga with one of our dietitians who is a registered yoga teacher

Dr. McDonald graduated from Five Branches University with his Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degree. His combined education in Oriental and Naturopathic medicine total over 12 years. His OM education also consisted of a Masters degree from East West College of Natural Medicine and a one-year postgraduate internship with Dr. David Cohen, DO, FAAMA. Prior to his Oriental medical education, Mel earned two doctoral degrees (ND-distance learning and NMD-residential). His naturopathic education was combined with a three-year externship at NEWS, with over 3,000 clinical hours alone and an additional 2,000+ hours didactic.

I work exclusively with individuals seeking improved gut health and dietary management for a variety of digestive disorders. I aim to provide both education and a personalized approach while implementing nutritional therapies to support sustainable changes. My areas of interest include but are not limited to IBS, Crohn’s disease, GERD, IBD, diverticulitis, SIBO, Celiac disease, pancreatitis, food sensitivities, and GI cancers.

I believe that the vast experiences I have gained over the last 38 years, not only from clinical practice, but also from acupuncture research and teaching allow me to treat my patients with the utmost professionalism.

I love helping clients (like you) discover practical ways to eat well, feel healthy, prevent disease, reach goals, and love life! My specialties are medical nutrition therapy for kidney health and diabetes. My grandfather had both conditions so I can empathize with others with either of these conditions, along with their caretakers/support members. I understand wanting the chocolate cake but avoiding it and other foods out of fear. I understand all the numbers. I understand the ups and downs of battling chronic diseases.
