Well, some of them actually do, as recent research shows... And what about saturated fat and blood cholesterol? It seemed like such a mainstay, but now the Atkins diet seems to be better for heart health than AHA Step 1, 2, whatever? I have to admit that I am partially personally to blame: I have begun my research career at the USDA Human Nutrition Center on Aging, in 1990ies.
