What is a detox diet?

A detox diet is a restrictive eating program designed to eliminate perceived "toxins" from the body and promote overall health and weight loss. Typically, it involves fasting or consuming a highly specific diet, such as only drinking juices or eating limited types of foods, for a set period. Although there are various forms of detox diets, they generally aim to cleanse the body and improve wellbeing. Are detox diets effective?
