Since 2007, I have specialized in Neuro-Endocrinology - which is essentially addressing the way the brain is communicating out to the endocrine (hormone) glands. This involves balancing brain neurotransmitters for changes in mood (depression, anxiety, irritability), sleep, pain, cravings and digestion as well as any changes in thyroid, adrenal, blood sugar and female/male hormonal status. I was born and raised in Auburn, California and am a 1996 graduate of Bastyr University, the leading naturopathic medical school in North America. Growing up with my dad as a local doctor inspired me to pursue medicine myself. Personal illness with questions left unanswered by western medicine led me in the direction of naturopathic medicine. I am passionate about helping people find their optimal health. I fill up my free time with my husband and 2 beautiful daughters. Together we enjoy rock-climbing, horse back riding, surfing, gardening and just being together.

Dr. Cist received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2004. She received her Bachelors in Science and Engineering from Princeton University in 1980. Having completed a residency at the Brain Therapeutics Medical Center, she opened and ran The Dorothea Clinic in 2006. Watching the miracles that unfold with the practice of this medicine is her greatest joy.
