In order to help my patients, I need to know their story. Health problems don't start the first time that a person has a pain, or the first night of insomnia. They started well before that first bout. For example, the problem started long before one develops IBS: IBS is a symptom of the problem. That is why it is so important to take a full history--not just current things but things that may have begun in childhood. So what I do is to listen and ask questions and listen. Once we are both satisfied, we can develop a plan--the goal of which is to help you reach YOUR best state of health.
