General Family Practice Naturopaths
Do naturopaths offer nutrition counseling?
Naturopathic practitioners, including naturopathic doctors (NDs) and traditional naturopaths, will often serve individuals and their families on a consistent basis for wellness check-ins, similar to what is done in traditional family practice medicine. In such sessions, the naturopath examines an individual's life comprehensively and provides regular preventative care. However, due to the limitations on many naturopathic licenses across states, many NDs have a very limited or nonexistent ability to prescribe certain medications. Many clients thus find it necessary to have a primary care physician with a traditional medical license (MD/DO) in addition to their naturopathic practitioner in order to obtain a full array of services.
