In bioidentical hormone therapy, the goal is similar: to regulate hormones effectively. However, this approach utilizes “bioidentical” substances that mimic naturally occurring hormones due to their similar chemical structures and are usually derived from plants. Examples of bioidentical hormones include estradiol and micronized progesterone. Unfortunately, while many believe that bioidentical hormones are more effective due to their “natural” origins, there is limited evidence to suggest they are safer than traditional hormone therapy.
