Patients suffering from pain often find that physical therapy alone is not enough to relieve their symptoms. I have been practicing for more than 33 years. I treat orthopedic and neurologic conditions including low back and neck pain, scoliosis, frozen shoulder, repetitive stress injury, and poor posture. By studying various integrated methods of chronic pain treatments, I realized that in order to treat pain, healthcare professionals must address what is happening simultaneously in both the body and mind. Therefore, I developed the RiVision® method: an innovative PT method combining physical therapy, dance/movement therapy & guided imagery (www.DrRivi.com).
RiVision® consists of physical therapy- addressing range of motion, pain level, posture and function level. Dance/movement therapy-addressing the patient's typical/atypical pattern of movement. And guided imagery- referring to the images the person describes in her body in relation to daily encounters with other people/events.
I tailor one-on-one treatment sessions for 45 minutes that will best fit the patient's needs. I incorporate PT, dance/movement therapy and guided imagery modalities. More details about the seven protocols of treatment are outlined in my upcoming book entitled: "Moving Pain Away", in press.
