I have worked in a variety of eating disorder settings including residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. My experience comes from working for the University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital Eating Disorders program, a world-renowned treatment facility with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral therapy. Japanese acupuncture technique involves shallow insertion of very thin, delicate needles into points along the Meridians of the body. It is a relaxing spa-like treatment that is gentle and essentially pain free. This style incorporates medical Shiatsu massage while the needles are in the body. I give my patients self-care education, Qigong (energy movement), nutritional counseling and suggest Chinese herbal therapies and/or supplements in a nurturing environment.
