"Whether you're looking for soothing massage to melt your stress away, or you need a specific treatment, I provide muscular therapy that employs a number of complimentary modalities. A Beneficial Regimen - Receiving Therapeutic Massage on a regular basis has proven to be beneficial in the reduction of Stress and been proven to reduce Pain and Joint Discomfort, once a week is optimal. However, a bi-weekly or once-a-month regimen will accomplish a satisfactory level of stress reduction. The tremendous benefits derived from a program of regularly scheduled Therapeutic Massage sessions can easily justify the investment of time and money.

As the first massage therapist to practice in a hospital, most of my clients are medically referred. Many have had chronic disabling pain and dysfunction issues. My training in Neuromuscular Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy and movement re-education based on the teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais as well as 33 years of clinical experience, give me a somewhat unique approach to treating complex musculoskeletal pain problems. My work has been reported in the Boston Globe. I am also the senior massage therapist at the Osher Clinic of the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Brookline. My private practice is in Dedham Mass.

I started massage as a way to facilitate person healing and growth through helping others. I help people everyday who have been to therapist after therapist but they never went to a neuromuscular therapist. As a NMT I’ve had extensive training in Anatomy, and have a much more advanced understanding of what causes myofascial pain, where it comes from and how to get it under control than a therapist that isn’t one. Let me help you. I also use muscle rubs that have essential oils, CBD and herbs that aid in decreasing inflammation naturally. Come experience my Neuromuscular fusion massage catered to your needs and dysfunction.

Our Fascial system is a main source of pain & dysfunction & yet little is known about it in the medical community. Imaging will not disclose areas of dysfunction due to the fluid nature of fascia, leading all to often to the diagnosis of “ there is nothing wrong; inconclusive results” You are not crazy & your pain is real. The John F Barnes Myofascial Release system ( JFBMFR) works with the balance & texture of the body. Understanding where the pain is & then balancing the incongruities that cause the twists within the system. It is a weblike pattern that can cause pain in different areas than where the injury is or thought to be.

I provide therapeutic massage for a wide variety of people; relaxation, pain relief, pain management. Many come for specific/ chronic pain management. My therapy sessions are integrated with many modalities; Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Body Mobilizations, Trigger Point, & others with a base of Swedish Massage. Every person is built differently, and no session is ever the same. By working w/ each client I design & tailor a session that meets their need for massage therapy. Before & after each session the client & I sit down & talk about the focus for that day & how I can help.

Feeling trapped by chronic pain or illness? Discouraged by recurring back, neck, hip, joint pain, migraines, sciatica, IBS, fatigue or just stress? You need someone experienced, who understands how you can break free and feel like yourself again. I've worked with clients and students as a pain relief therapist, holistic health coach, and somatic educator, refining an original, unique synthesis of manual, movement and mind-body therapies. Our work together would be a weaving of multidisciplinary techniques, particularly suited to your needs, guided by comprehensive detailed discussion, thorough structural assessment and your body's individual response.

Who can practice massage in Massachusetts?
Most states have licensing requirements that must be met before a practitioner (a 'masseuse' or 'masseur') can use the title 'Massage Therapist', and some states require a license to practice any form of massage. Licensed Massage Therapists in Massachusetts have obtained the highest level of authentication. They must complete academic coursework in anatomy and physiology, as well as on the application of massage and bodywork, business and ethics, and specialized massage techniques. The Massachusetts LMT must then pass a certification exam.

What are the benefits of Massachusetts massage?
Clients use massage in Massachusetts because it relieves pain from muscle aches and sprains, muscle injuries and other causes of pain. It reduces stress and helps clients relax, and can decrease feelings of anxiety and depression by stimulating the release of endorphins and serotonin. Massage therapy in Massachusetts can help prevent fibrosis or scar tissue, increase the flow of lymph, and improve sleep. Massachusetts massage therapy can help rehabilitate sports injuries.

How does massage work?
Massage involves working and acting on the body using pressure from the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, or feet of the massage therapist. The Massachusetts massage therapist focuses on muscles, tendons, ligaments, myofacia, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system.
