Dr Whalen was a former Life Flight helicopter RN, and one of the first paramedic nurses in San Diego County. Dr Whalen is a past president of the California Chiropractic Association, and won numerous honors including student of the year, new doctor of the year and doctor of the year.
Dr Whalen is the past chairman of the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP) the national organization developing chiropractic "Best Practices." He has been published in numerous peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine and Journal of Workers Compensation.
