He holds an M.D. in Oriental Medicine and a Masters degree in Acupuncture from South Baylo University. He is nationally board certified for NCCAOM, which meets nationally recognized standards of competence and safety.

The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further enhance the effects. Other acupoint stimulation techniques include: acupressure/tui-na massage, moxibustion or heat therapy, cupping.

Sherbiny is certified by the Virginia Board of Medicine to practice Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is licensed by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Certified in Clean Needle Technique, Chinese Herbs, and a graduate of the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (four year graduate program required for acupuncture certification). He is also certified in Tui Na (massage) from the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
