I've seen the strengths and weaknesses of modern medicine firsthand as a Medic and Critical Care Nurse over 23 years. There is no easy way to convey the power I've s seen through Eastern Medicine techniques, many of which are now being brought to the mainstream. Whether it's dietary therapy, herbal medicine, needling, cupping, they have their roots in Eastern Medicine. The modern takes on these tools often lack the unifying vision for how and when to use them, when not to, when to be gentle and when to be more aggressive. These are the kinds of nuances only a comprehensively trained practitioner can offer to you.

Acupuncture has become a highly popular form of complementary health care because of its relatively low cost and its noninvasive nature. In this gentle form of medicine, I design each treatment uniquely to address imbalance as it is specifically experienced by each individual. Symptoms are viewed in relationship to the totality of a person in order to explore the root cause of an illness or discomfort.

Smart healthcare and results are my passion! Using a body constitution approach, I tailor treatments for nerve and joint pain, gastrointestinal and auto-immune disorders. Knowing your particular body constitution is vital since your treatment could be completely different from someone else even if you have the exact same symptoms and diagnosis. What you eat is also very important so you know how to maintain the treatments you receive from me. As part of my care, every patient receives comprehensive dietary and lifestyle activities counseling.

Acupuncture is for someone who is open to receiving treatment and is committed to their personal health and growth. It is important that a person who receives acupuncture is willing to put the time and effort into healing his or her body through alternative medicine. Acupuncture has amazing healing properties and takes equal efforts on both the acupuncturist’s and the client’s part to maximize treatment success. I treat a wide variety of health issues such as pain, anxiety, infertility, food sensitivities, and seasonal allergies. I also specialize in pediatric health issues for infants to adolescents.

Acupuncture in North Carolina - is it right for me?
Acupuncture is based on the concepts of oriental medicine or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. North Carolina acupuncturists are health care professionals who evaluate and treat the many conditions, aches and pains that respond to acupuncture.
Acupuncturists insert very fine acupuncture needles into the body. The purpose of the needles is to stimulate acupuncture points or meridians. The needles do not inject any substance into your body and are so fine as to be virtually impossible to feel. In some cases, acupuncture may be accompanied by electrical stimulation or the burning of moxa, a form of heat therapy. Or use acupressure, where physical pressure is applied by hand or elbow to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.
'Accupuncture' and 'Accupuncturist' are common mis-spellings.

Credentials for North Carolina licensed acupuncturists?
A licensed acupuncturist in North Carolina needs a minimum of two years college education and must complete three years of professional training and pass the State's approved licensing examination. The three year program includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Most States' professional training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
