After going to several doctors to try and understand why they are so tired, fatigued, bloated, and depressed, my ideal client is looking for the real answers to what they believe may be their hormone imbalance. The list doesn't stop here, often they feel not themselves, are struggling to control digestive issues, staying productive at work. Recent tests and sonograms show no abnormalities with the thyroid (or with gynecology tests) yet they still have all these issues that make no sense. It's a struggle to be heard. Their want to de-stress, sleep, lose weight, have energy, and one day get that promotion or start a family!

I’m so glad you are interested in how acupuncture treatment can help you to feel more at ease in your body – with less pain, better digestion, better sleep – and in your mind – having more peace and resiliency in dealing with all of life’s stresses. Acupuncture is part of the long tradition of medicine that originated in China over 3,000 years ago. You can trust that acupuncture is a safe, natural and effective way to treat many ailments. My work is very complementary to any Western medical treatments you might also be receiving, and I now get many referrals from local physicians who also see the benefits to their patients.

I am passionate about health & wellbeing and helping people feel their best. Prior to training as an acupuncturist I worked in the field of psychology with adults and adolescents with mental health and emotional issues for over 10 years. Observing how a person's emotional health affected their physical health and how a person's physical health affected their well-being I wanted to retrain in a modality that could address both issues. I began my Acupuncture training in England and studied there for three years, before moving to the US and training for a further three years.

Acupuncture in District Of Columbia - is it right for me?
Acupuncture is based on the concepts of oriental medicine or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. District Of Columbia acupuncturists are health care professionals who evaluate and treat the many conditions, aches and pains that respond to acupuncture.

Acupuncturists insert very fine acupuncture needles into the body. The purpose of the needles is to stimulate acupuncture points or meridians. The needles do not inject any substance into your body and are so fine as to be virtually impossible to feel. In some cases, acupuncture may be accompanied by electrical stimulation or the burning of moxa, a form of heat therapy. Or use acupressure, where physical pressure is applied by hand or elbow to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.

'Accupuncture' and 'Accupuncturist' are common mis-spellings.
Credentials for District Of Columbia licensed acupuncturists?
A licensed acupuncturist in District Of Columbia needs a minimum of two years college education and must complete three years of professional training and pass the State's approved licensing examination. The three year program includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Most States' professional training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
