Dr. Peter Zilahy has been practicing complementary medicine for the past 30 years. He has an extensive knowledge in functional neurology and medicine along with acupuncture and clinical nutrition. Dr. Zilahy prides himself in being “ahead of the curve” when it comes to natural methods. For example, in the early eighties he was advising patients to stay away from transfatty acids and lowering cholesterol when a cholesterol reading of 300 was normal. In 1989 he was one of the first practioners in the state to implement an exercise center for spinal conditions when the standard of care was bedrest.

In my practice I strive to awaken the physician within each patient. To that end I emphasize the importance of daily self-maintenance in a way that takes into account individual limitations and experiences. The focus of each treatment is on correcting imbalances that contribute to the symptoms that the patient is experiencing. The overall goal of continuing treatments is to help each individual recognize how daily experiences can have a negative and/or positive impact on the balance of their health. Awareness of potential imbalances is the first step toward improving the overall quality of life.

I assist patients in the process of discovering realistic approaches to their health which will help them to manifest the life they desire. Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina, and many other modalities may be utilized to help patients let go of physical symptoms-- both acute and chronic-- while establishing a stronger, happier, and more centered sense of self.

I focus on empowering patients to address all of their health concerns in the context of holistic wellness, using all of the traditional modalities of Asian medicine. My initial intake involves a comprehensive ninety-minute assessment and Chinese pulse diagnosis, during which we will discover the health initiatives which are most important to you, and prioritize them together according to your diagnosed imbalances. Using an integral approach involving acupuncture, wellness counseling, herbs, and often shiatsu bodywork therapy and Japanese moxibustion, we can successfully address all components of nearly any health challenge: body, mind and spirit.

I studied and trained in Acupuncture and classic Chinese Medicine both in United State and in China. I completed a Doctoral Degree of Medicine in the specialty of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina, and studied under a number of renowned Chinese medicine masters. I have lots clinical experience in both China, where there is a high volume of patients, and in the United States. My ongoing study covers frontier techniques. For example, Acupuncture spirit: it is pulse-regulating acupuncture technique from Ling Shu. By changing pulse, it balances and regulates Qi to gain the strongest result from mildest stimulation by smaller and fewer needles.
