How Do I Choose a Nutritionist or Dietitian?

The difference between nutritionists and dietitians is vague; their duties can overlap. However, anyone can call himself a nutritionist. Only some are certified as certified nutritionists, whereas all dietitians are registered as registered dietitians.

You should find someone who has experience working with people who have your types of goals and health issues. You should also find someone you are comfortable collaborating with. Being given a diet you’re not likely to adhere to can do more harm than good, so express your doubts and concerns. Discuss your favorite foods, your target weight, your allergies, and make sure your counselor is prepared to form a plan that will work for both of you.
