How Do I Choose a Homeopath?

Find a homeopath you feel comfortable working with, so that you can agree on a treatment plan that works for both of you. Also make sure that the person you select has experience treating your specific ailments and understands your specific needs.

Although homeopathy is part of the field of alternative medicine, a medical degree is not needed to practice it. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, naturopaths, chiropractors, and acupuncturists have access to a variety of training programs in homeopathy. The training programs vary in sophistication from weekend workshops to four-year courses. Homeopathic certifications include RSHom NA, Registered by the North American Society of Homeopaths; CCH, Certified by the Council for Homeopathic Certification; DHANP, Diplomate of the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians; DHt, Diplomate in Homeotherapeutics by the American Board of Homeotherapeutics.

As with any therapy, a personal connection with the practitioner can be as important as the technique itself, so choose a homeopath whom you can trust, one who readily addresses questions or concerns you have. Keep looking until you find someone who inspires confidence.
