How Can a Chiropractor Help Me?

Chiropractors generally tailor their approach to an individual patient’s needs, whether sports injuries or back pain. For example, if you suffer from lower back pain caused by joint and disc problems, cox flexion distraction may be employed. This technique stretches and flexes the spine to remove nerve compression. If a muscle is injured or overexerted, pressure is applied to the relevant knots or trigger points, thereby removing toxins, calming nerves, releasing endorphins, and alleviating pain.

Additional methods include the Gonstead technique and the sacro-occipital technique. In the former method, x-rays pinpoint misalignments and painful nerve pressure. The chiropractor then performs adjustments on the patient’s neck. The sacro-occipital technique involves both ends of the spine, from the occiput, or back of the skull, to the sacrum, the last major bone of the spinal column.
